Cerberus: The Guardian of the Underworld

In Greek mythology, the entrance to the underworld was guarded by a terrifying creature known as Cerberus.

Cerberus was a monstrous three-headed dog that prevented the dead from escaping the underworld and stopped the living from entering.

He was the loyal servant of Hades, the ruler of the underworld.

Cerberus was often described as having multiple heads, a serpent for a tail, and snakes growing from his body.

Many heroes feared the creature, but one hero successfully confronted him.

As part of his Twelve Labors, the hero Heracles was ordered to capture Cerberus and bring him to the surface world.

With incredible strength and bravery, Heracles wrestled the monster and managed to bring him to the world of the living before eventually returning him to the underworld.

Cerberus became a symbol of the boundary between life and death.

The myth reflects the ancient belief that the world of the dead must remain separate from the world of the living.
